Do I have to know how to code?Nope! This hackathon is for girls who are interested in computer science, even if you have never coded before. We will have lots of workshops for you to learn new skills and mentors to guide you through it!
How old do I have to be to sign up?10 - 18
Is there an entrance fee?This is a non-profit event, therefore you do not need to pay any entrance fee.
We will provide snacks, prizes and mentors. Will teams be assigned to us?
You are welcome to join with a group of friends as a team. If you do not have a team, we will help you find one. Details will be sent out closer to the date of SheHacks. Email us if you have any concerns!
Maximum 4 people in a group. Is food provided?Lunch will not be provided at the event, however, snack will be provided. Therefore, please don't forget to bring in packed lunch! You can also order in! |
What is the purpose of hosting this hackathon?We run this event with the aim to inspire, empower and unite girls to purse their passion and interests in Computer Science, whilst allowing them to discover the exciting opportunities the vast technology field has to offer.
What should I bring?An official student ID, your laptop and charger, a copy of google form registration, a jacket, and any other materials you may require. Please also bring packed lunch. An email regarding what to bring will be sent to all participants a few days before the hackathon.
Will photographs be taken during the event?
Yes, please note that video and photographs will be taken of all participants as a condition for joining SheHacks. By signing up for this competition, you grant Girls in Tech representatives and employees the right to take photographs of you and the work you produce at the hackathon. You also agree that Girls in Tech may use these photographs with or without your name for any lawful purpose, including for example such purposes as publicity, illustration, advertising, and Web content.
Does GirlsinTech own the project I create during the event?
No, your ideas are your own!
Can males come to the event?Our event aims to empower women as we find the female participation within Computer Science low, and we want to mitigate that. Thus, the hackathon will be targeted towards aspiring girls.
