Our Background
SheHacks is an all female and non binary hackathon, with the aim to bridge the gender gap in the field of technology. We were frustrated with the current gender imbalance and so we decided that it was vital to inspire and encourage more girls to participate in this hackathon and explore the opportunities the tech field has to offer.
SheHacks was in 2019 - an incredible start for SheHacks - it was amazing to see so many girls turn up and explore their interests in coding. Paired with industry professionals, it was an inspiring and educational event for so many. 2020, struck with COVID-19, we held a virtual hackathon. Although faced with new challenges, again, as always we were impressed with the quality of work produced during the hackathon. In 2021 we held another virtual conference where we invited girls across the region to participate. This year, in 2022, we are excited to be hosting an in-person hackathon! Across 2 days, participants will get the exciting chance to hear from inspiring speakers, learn new technical skills from mentors and build a project, all without having to leave your home. Best of all, no programming experience is required! SheHacks is a great way to gain coding experience, meet industry professionals, and meet like-minded people! We hope to see you there! |
"Women no longer have an 'if I can' mindset. Now it's more about 'how I can'–be in tech, start something in tech, fund something in tech. That shift is exciting! And it happened because we created a network where we show, daily, that women are innovating."
